BRIEF DEFINITION OF HYPNOSIS

Hypnosis is a mental state induced by a hypnotic induction, which comprises of instructions and suggestions by the hypnotist. Hypnosis may be conducted by a hypnotist or even self-administered (which is also known as self-hypnosis). When hypnosis is used for therapeutic purposes, it is known as hypnotherapy (or using hypnosis as a therapy). Hypnosis is actually a wakeful state of focused attention [and heightened suggestibility. Subject is aware of what is happening and always possess the power to make a choice of whether to follow or not to follow the suggestions made by the hypnotist.
